Media Liquid Foundation: Super natural coverage you can travel with

If you are into sheer, natural-looking foundation that’s travel-friendly, check out this review of Media Liquid Foundation – a Japan-made product I picked up during my Fukuoka trip

Since then, I found myself bringing this on most holidays, thanks to its light and compact packaging.

About Media Liquid Foundation

Media (媚點) – as you can read from my previous media product reviews – is a brand under the Kose umbrella. Most of the makeup I’ve used from this brand are decent, often with a review rating of 4 and above.

In fact, I’ve been a loyal fan of the Media BB Cream since 2017.

Will Media Foundation be as good? That was a question that I’d wanted to find out.

Will Media Foundation be as good as Media BB Cream?

What it Promises

Media Liquid Foundation is marketed as a “liquid foundation that covers blemishes, dullness, and pores for a bright, translucent finish that lasts.”

Let’s see if it does what it promises.

What’s good about Media Liquid Foundation?

1. Natural finish

Media Liquid foundation offers a sheer and natural finish, with sufficient coverage to cover redness, pores and imperfections.

Media Liquid Foundation Before After Comparison

As compared to other sheer foundation I’ve used, this is even more sheer, so much so that I couldn’t quite tell the difference between Media BB Cream and Media Liquid Foundation.

Let’s do a photo test to help me figure the difference!

Foundation on the left and BB Cream on the right – can you spot any difference?

From the photo, it appears that the pores and fine lines were better hidden with Media Foundation than the BB cream. What do you think?

2. Non-greasy & pimple-friendly

Similar to Media BB Cream, Media Foundation offers a non-greasy and non-sticky finish. I didn’t have to set the face with powder.

Very importantly, it seems to be pimple-friendly too – no breakouts!

3. Travel-friendly

The thing I love most about Media Foundation is how compact and light it is. Unlike heavy glass bottles and bulky packaging, Media Foundation hardly takes up any space in the luggage.

Comes in a small tube, there’s no artificial size inflation or over-packaging.

4. Wallet-friendly

Media Foundation is available in both Japan and Taiwan, and I often found it heavily discounted (up to 30%). You can find the latest price in Japan (or see price in Taiwan), typically under S$15.

What’s bad about Media Liquid Foundation?

1. Too natural-looking?

Despite being a lover for natural-looking makeup, I found the foundation a little too sheer. Also, I didn’t feel the “bright-up” or translucent effect. It’s just very natural looking, which isn’t bad for an everyday look and a casual day out.

However, I wouldn’t use this if I wanted to look great for the day or expected a long day ahead. For that, I would reach out for Decorte Zen Wear Foundation instead.

2. Only 25 grams

Yes, Media Foundation is travel-friendly. However, it seems to come with lower quantity than industry norm, i.e. 25 grams vs 30ml.

Notice it’s in grams, and not ml? So we do not have an apple-to-apple comparison and I can only guess that the quantity is lower given how compact the packaging is.

Should you buy Media Liquid Foundation?

If you want a foundation with decent coverage when travelling, Media Liquid Foundation may serve this purpose well. It hardly takes up any space in the luggage and is affordable.

However, those who love medium to heavy coverage should look out for other products. Rating: 4/5
