Hey all, I’m so excited as I’m planning my trip to Liaoning province, China (辽宁)! We’ve shortlisted 4 cities to visit:
- Shenyang (沈阳)
- Dandong (丹东)
- Dalian (大连)
- Qinhuangdao (秦皇岛)
As usual, Beijing (北京) will be our landing and departure point. Why Beijing? It’s a personal preference, as we have quite strict requirements when it comes to the types of airplanes we fly on (and seat configurations).

3 reasons why we chose to visit Liaoning, China in Aug/Sep?
The Jun – Oct period isn’t the best time for travel to many countries. Why?
1. It’s very hot in many countries
Liaoning is located in the northern part of China. So it’s less hot than other cities such as Chongqing and Guangzhou.
Temperature during our travel will be a comfy 18 – 27°C.
2. Typhoons hit many cities
So far, we’ve already seen numerous typhoons hitting many countries, bringing storms, heavy rainfall and widespread flooding.
Countries affected include Taiwan, Japan, Philippines and more. China is also affected, but mostly in the southeastern and eastern coastal regions.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that a typhoon won’t strike Liaoning in late Aug/Sep. Anyway, you’ll know if it does when you join me on Instagram, where I’ll be sharing quick/live travel stories.
3. Avoid China’s school holidays
China’s school holiday run from July to August. During this period, travelling can be chaotic due to the massive crowds. Hence, we deliberately chose late August (when the students go back to school).
