New Launch: Clera Cera – Skincare that soothes and repairs Asian skin

Have sensitive skin and looking for skincare that soothes, protects and repairs? Meet Clera Cera, a new dermatological skincare brand specially developed with Asian skin in mind, now available in Singapore.

What caught my attention is that Clera Cera was co-developed with Singapore’s National Skin Centre. The brand also conducted usage tests involving more than 18,000 customers across five Asian markets.

Tell me more about Clera Cera

Created through a partnership between DFI Retail and Singapore’s National Skin Centre, Clera Cera is designed to address the needs of Asian skin, which is said to be have a thinner outer layer. It’s formulation works to Replenish, Repair, and Relieve – three key steps towards healthier-looking skin.

At the heart of its forulation are Cynanchum Atratum (Bai Wei) extract and five skin-identical ceramides, which work together to reinforce the Asian skin’s natural barrier.

  • Replenish: Restores skin hydration, with moisture-attracting ingredients such as saccharide isomerate
  • Repair: Strengthens the skin barrier with five skin-identical ceramides
  • Relieve: Soothes the skin with Derma-Clera™, powered by a Cynanchum Atratum (Bai Wei) extract.

Recognising how hot and humid the Asian climate can be, Clera Cera is formulated to feel ultra-lightweight, non-sticky and breathable on the skin.

4. Sun care

The two sunscreen products by Clera Cera are physical sunscreen. Unlike chemical sunscreen, physical or mineral sunscreens are often favoured by those with sensitive skin as they sit on the skin instead of being absorbed.

One offers conventional sun protection, while the other comes with a tone-up tint that doubles as a makeup base. Both are water resistant.

One detail worth noting – Clera Cera sunscreen offers UVA protection rating of PA+++. While this indicates high UVA protection, it is a tad lower than the highest UVA grade one can get in the market, i.e. “PA++++”.

3 pluses should be sufficient for short, mostly indoor days. However, if you are prone to melasma, pigmentation or expect prolonged outdoor exposure, you may prefer the gold standard of PA++++, commonly found in Japanese and Korean sunscreens.
