Cutis Clinic- Exterior

The first treatment I’ve had at Cutis Medical Laser Clinics was VI Peel. This painless peel was prescribed to help improve my skin texture (enlarged pores) and to provide a quick collagen boost.

Dr Sylvia Ramirez prescribed a series of three VI peels, to be done a month apart at a package price of $1,200. These VI peels were to be done together with Laser Genesis  to produce the best results at minimizing pores and improving skin firmness.  Since my completion of the first series of VI Peel, I’d gone on to take up a second series – VI Precision Peel – which is 25% stronger.

Cutis Medical Laser Clinics’ Approach

What I love about this clinic is the amount of information they’ll share with you during consultation. Sometimes, I find that most of my questions were addressed even before I had the chance to ask. Unlike some of the doctors I’ve met, Dr. Sylvia Ramirez is extremely patient and warmly welcomes any questions that you may have.

What truly impressed upon me is how she freely hands over a lot of useful reading materials, from product brochures to prescription notes she made on a paper. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with her academic background, as an assistant professor in NUS years ago. At the end of the consultation, you’ll likely receive a white piece of paper containing her handwritten recommended treatments, price and important notes.

She would ask you to bring it home and do further readings on the treatment if you like to. This approach is a good fit for me as I love reading up on aesthetic and beauty procedures. This also gives me the chance to do further research, such as comparing prices between clinics, or checking out reviews of the clinic and treatments before making a full commitment.

In my two years of experience with the clinic, I have never encountered any upselling. Not by the doctor. Not by the staff. I truly appreciate that they do not place additional stress on their customers for the sake of a better bottom line.

VI Peel Treatment

I’d earlier done a VI Peel Blog series which detailed the recovery process and results.

Day 4 to 8 (VI Precision Peel)

To summarize, the application of VI peel was almost pain-free, and was professionally-administered. Before every step or action she takes, Dr. Ramirez or the staff will notify you and explain the reason for each action, so that you are well-informed and not caught by surprise.

In terms of professionalism and service, there is no doubt their performance is top-notch. I’ve never encountered any complication from all the treatments I’ve had with Cutis Medical Laser Clinics (not true for other clinics I’ve been to). They’ll also call you a day or two after each treatment to check out on your recovery progress. If this not great service and genuine care, I do not know what it is.

VI peel is definitely an effective treatment to help your skin renew, and to give you added radiance and improved texture. VI peel differentiates itself from other medium peel (e.g. TCA) as a painless peel that is suitable for all skin tones, and requires no preconditioning. Great as it is, treatment of pigmentation problem would take a few applications and could be a hit or miss.

Also, maintenance is required as skin does continue to age. Generally, it is recommended that this medium-depth peel be done 3 to 4 times a year. This would have been my holy grail peel if it was more affordable.

The 7-day downtime is also something that requires a bit of planning (to take time off work). Furthermore, I am not extremely excited of the 2-week jogging-downtime. I always feel fat and lazy when I’m recovering from VI peel.

Despite the above, I would still continue this treatment at regular interval as the pros outweigh the cons.

Note: This treatment was not sponsored. All opinions are 100% honest.
