Mid-Autumn Festival is coming! Check out Tai Cheong Bakery Mooncake Set, air-flown from Hong Kong to Singapore and housed in an exquisitely-designed “tiffany blue & gold” gift box.
Available in either a 4-piece Golden Treasure or a 6-piece Divine Medley Mooncake set, you’ll be spoilt for choice because each box is made up of a combination of mooncakes in different flavours.
Thanks to Tai Cheong Bakery for sending over a media sample on the 6-piece Divine Medley Mooncake set, which I’ll share more details on.
Tai Cheong Bakery Mooncake Set
Priced at $60, Tai Cheong Mooncake Divine Medley Set offers two regular (80g) and four mini (45g) mooncakes of different flavours.
The regular mooncakes comes in “Single-yolk with White Lotus Seed Paste” and “Wu Ren (Five Nuts)” while the mini ones have more fanciful flavours in:
- Custard
- Black Sesame Mochi
- Matcha with Red Bean Paste
- Red Bean Paste with Dried Tangerine Peel
The one I was most eager to try from this mooncake gift box was the black sesame mochi flavor. Let me indulge in early mooncake celebration by slicing it up for our readers to see.
Taste-test: Tai Cheong Bakery Black Sesame Mooncake
Love the mini size which can be easily consumed by one or a couple without excessive calorie-guilt.
The black sesame paste has a balanced blend of both sweet and savory notes and carries a bit of chewiness that came from the mochi stuffed in the middle.
All in all, I enjoyed the fragrant “melt-in-the-mouth” mini mooncake.
Sorry, folks! I’m gonna be mindful of my calorie-intake and will eat the rest of the mooncakes later when 中秋节 falls on 29 September 2023.
Not to worry about the mooncakes turning bad as this gift set can last till mid-Oct 2023.
Update (Sep 2023): I’ve tried the “Wu Ren (Five Nuts)” mooncake and dad said it was really good. I have to agree as it was quite tasty especially for someone who normally stays away from this flavour.
