Some said Decorte Liposome Repair Serum is a must-try elixir. Is it true?

When travelling in Tokyo, I asked a Japanese local which beauty products were worth recommending. And she said, “Decorte Liposome Repair Serum.”

Hey all, if you’ve read my Tokyo Travelogue, you would know that I made a new Japanese friend on a train when travelling to Hakone, a mountainous hot spring town. This friendly lady recommended two beauty products of which I purchased one of them.

Today, let me share if Decorte Liposome Advanced Repair Serum is worth the hefty price tag.

About Decorte Advanced Liposome Repair Serum

Decorte is a brand founded in Japan in 1970 under the KOSE Group. As a beauty blogger, I’m pretty ashamed that I’d not heard of it until the Japanese local recommended it. Perhaps, this premium skincare was out of my “poor-man” radar.

So, what benefits does Decorte Liposome Advanced Repair Serum offer? Based on its marketing claim, this serum would offer intense and long-lasting hydration.

Said to be a concentrated serum, this Japan-made serum would restore dehydrated skin and improve its texture and skin. Decorte Serum also claims to reduce appearance of fine lines caused by dryness.

That was exactly what I needed at the end of my Tokyo trip as my skin was getting quite dehydrated. So I forced myself to part with about ÂĄ7,500 for a small bottle of “elixir” at Tokyo Haneda airport, just before departing Japan.

TIP: It is cheaper to get Decorte Serum in Japan where you can enjoy tax-free purchase.

Let’s check out if the marketing claims are true and if Decorte Serum would really help improve hydration level of the skin. I’ll start off by sharing its pros.

What’s good about Decorte Liposome Repair Serum?

1. Lightweight and comfortable on skin

I use about two pumps of serum on my face and love how the slightly slippery serum absorbs easily into the skin. There was no greasiness and after a few minutes, the skin feels like bare skin – a moisturised one.

Being lightweight, Decorte serum also layers well with other skincare and makeup.

How to apply Decorte Liposome Serum?

Based on application instruction, you are supposed to apply it morning and evening on clean skin. However, I only apply it at night because it’s quite expensive. Hee!

Also, my morning routine is normally reserved for Vitamin C serum instead.

2. Does it hydrate well?

Normally when I return from an overseas trip, my skin would peel due to dehydration. I’m glad I bought Decorte Serum just before departing Japan as it saved my skin.

I started applying Decorte Liposome Serum when I landed in Singapore and my skin was repaired within just one day.

I couldn’t believe it! But now I’m a firm believer of this product! It works!

Since my first application about three months ago, my skin has never suffered from dry patches which used to be a norm for me in the past. I think I’ve found the holy grail to my dehydrated skin.

3. You’ll feel good using Decorte Repair Serum!

The dark purple bottle looks elegant and feels that way too due to its hefty weight.

You’ll definitely feel good when applying Decorte Repair Serum because the bottle feels so premium and luxurious.

4. No pimples

It is said to be non-comedogenic and it is true. I’ve not gotten a zit from using Decorte Liposome Advanced Repair Serum.

5. Suitable for Sensitive Skin

Decorte Serum is marketed as a serum that is suitable for sensitive skin. Though I can’t vouch for that (since I don’t have sensitive skin), I now believe in the claims of this product.

What’s bad about Decorte Repair Serum?

1. The price

At about S$98 for the smallest 30ml bottle, this is not a cheap product. You may be able to bring down the per unit cost by buying the larger bottle (or get your friend to buy it from Japan).

I regretted not getting the bigger bottle, because I’ve just used up the last drop yesterday. For info, the 30ml bottle lasted me about three months when used once daily.

Updated in Apr 2024: I’ve since bought a 100ml bottle online and am about to deplete it. Good that I’m heading to Japan next month – will get another bottle. :)

2. Not travel-friendly

As shared earlier, the bottle is heavy and not suitable for travelling.

3. Precision is needed to cap the lid

Unfortunately, for such a pricey product, I’m surprised that it took some efforts to fix the lid over the pump bottle.

You’ll need precision and a perfect angle!

Should you buy Decorte Liposome Repair Serum?

Decorte Liposome Serum is not cheap. However, for someone who suffers from persistent dehydrated skin, you may like to give it a try.

I know I will definitely repurchase this serum as it improved my skin’s hydration level. Not only did the peeling stop, my skin also looked healthier and more supple.

So far, Decorte’s marketing claims have been true in my experience and I’m pretty happy with it. Rating: 4.5/5
