I was so surprised to find myself loving LuLuLun Face Mask, because as some of you may know, I’m not a fan of sheet masks. But know what, this one really works especially on my dehydrated and aging skin.
Are you battling dry skin too and want something that works, and works quickly? If so, I believe you’ll want to find out more about LuLuLun.
Update Mar 2023: This post was first published in April 2021. I’ve since repurchased it a few times and would continue to do so whenever I need a quick solution to heal dry and flaky skin. :)
More about LuLuLun Face Mask
LuLuLun is a brand from Japan that specialises in sheet masks. I’d never heard of the brand until my friend came back from Japan and gifted me a red thick packet of sheet masks. That was a few years ago, and during then, I couldn’t find much info about the brand and wondered how to go about using this thick pack of masks.
Today, LuLuLun can be commonly found in our local drug stores and information is more easily available. Apparently, LuLuLun is a No. 1 Face Mask brand in Japan and have sold over 1 billion sheets to date. It differs from other masks in that it is meant to be used daily to replace our toner. This explains why each pack contains more than one sheet mask.
From what I see, the pack can come in either 7, 10, 32 or 36 sheets.
Types of LuLuLun Masks
As a top selling mask brand in Japan, it’s not surprising to know that LuLuLun offers many types to cater to different skin needs. The mask series are:
- LuLuLun Regular
- LuLuLun Precious
- LuLuLun over 45
- LuLuLun One
The one I was gifted was the second one – LuLuLun Precious. I understand that this series provides anti-aging benefits.
If one is over 45 years old, you can go on to the third series, i.e. LuLuLun over 45. And the final series – LuLuLun One – is the most expensive of the lot and is said to be “The best masks in LuLuLun History”.
LuLuLun Precious Series
Let’s come back to the Precious series which I was gifted. Within this anti-aging series, it’s further broken down into gold, red and green to cater to varying skin skin needs such as brightening and intense hydration.
This review will be on LuLuLun Precious Red, one that offers anti-aging care as well as provides intensive hydration. This mask contains L22 (plant-based complex oil) as well as white rice koji extract, sacran, vitamin E etc. Here’s the full ingredient list.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG/Polybutyleneglycol-8/5/3 Glycerin, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, C12-18 Acid Triglyceride, Jojoba Esters, Squalene, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, Phytosterols, Tocopherol, Pyrus Cydonia Seed Extract, Aphanothece Sacrum Polysaccharide, Aspergillus/Rice Ferment Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Hydrolyzed Rice Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Lees Extract, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract, Polyglyceryl-10 Isostearate, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben
How to Use?
Mine came in a pack of 7 with each sheet recommended to be used daily, for 5-10 minutes per session. I tend to leave it on longer, like 20 minutes as it felt wasteful to have it on for anything shorter than that. :)
After removing the mask, we are supposed to finish up with moisturiser, but I never did as I thought my face was moisturised enough.
Having finished the 7-sheet pack within 2-3 weeks, I’m ready to share the pros and cons of LuLuLun Precious Red. Let’s start with what’s good!

What’s Great about LuLuLun Mask?
1. No Drip or Mess
One of the reasons why I’m not a fan of sheet mask is because I find the process cumbersome…you know having to spread the mask at the basin and deal with drippage and all.
LuLuLun surprised me as it doesn’t contain excessive liquid in the pack, and the mask was easy to handle or spread across the face. Best of all, there was absolutely no drips or mess which makes the application easy and quick.
2. LuLuLun Precious Red is a great hydrator!
Yes, LuLuLun was easy to apply. But what really drew me to the mask was that it works!
After just one application, I woke up next day to a softer and smoother face. The dry patches that bothered me for weeks also started peeling off. In fact, after my second consecutive-day mask session, my face felt supple and was already free from dry patches.
“Very good! One of the few masks that may convert me into a frequent user” was what I wrote in my beauty diary.

3. No Pimples
Some hydrating masks can make me break out. Thankfully, after finishing all 7 pieces of LuLuLun Precious Red, my pimple-prone skin did not face any problem.
Therefore, it is very likely that I would repurchase LuLuLun masks the next time I experience a dry-skin episode.

4. Reasonable Price
A pack of 10 sheets of Precious Red is selling in Singapore for about $12, which I thought is reasonable especially since it delivers results.
Here’s its latest price on Amazon.
What not Great?
1. Small Eye-Holes
The only thing I’m bothered by are the very small holes for the eye areas.
As you can see, the mask was touching the edge of my eyes, and that was after some efforts in aligning it. However, we can also think of it positively, that such small holes meant more skin is in contact with the nourishing sheet mask.
So perhaps, it’s not that bad after all! :)
2. Mask is small even for Asian
Other than small holes around the eyes, the sheet mask itself is small even by Asian standard. I have a small face, and yet the mask barely wraps around my chin. There’s also about an inch of space between my ear and the sheet mask.
Nevertheless, I’m not really bothered by the small fit as Lululun Precious Red has proven to work even if it may not cover the entire face. Perhaps, it covers areas that are deemed important. :)
3. Created more waste
I’m a little bothered by the “daily-use mask” claims and how it is supposed to replace toner. This would create a lot more waste than is needed. Therefore, I would only use this mask when I truly needed it, such as when I’m experiencing a dry episode.
Also, I would likely not use it daily. How I completed the 7 masks was 3 days in a row, pause for a week, then 2 days in a row etc. This maintains the hydration level of my skin and hopefully not contribute t0o much to excessive waste.
Recommendation: Should you buy LuLuLun Precious Red Mask?
I know I would repurchase this mask. In fact, I think I will replenish LuLuLun Precious Red today. It’s great to keep a pack with me to deal with the occasional bouts of skin dryness that I experience with aging.
I highly recommend LuLuLun Precious Red Mask if you want a mask that offers intensive hydration benefits without having pimples popping up. Hope you experience the same great results as I did. Hmm, which other LuLuLun Mask should I try next? :) Rating: 5/5
