A Gentle Eye Cream | Review of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye

Among my collection of eye cream, the only one I’ll grab without any hesitation whenever I undergo facial peels is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye. During such time, I want the gentlest stuff to help my skin recover and regenerate.

Its unique concoction of essential oils and botanicals gives it a really lovely aroma – think of yourself lying on a flower bed of lavender and random floral petals. I’m pretty sure you’ll love it too!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is Gentle and Natural

Such a soothing and relaxing floral scent somehow gave me the assurance that this eye cream is gentle enough to be used when the skin is at its most vulnerable state.  And somehow, I’m right!

It has worked really well for me. When my skin is dry, flaky and peeling, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye gave it sufficient hydration and aid in the recovery process. The ingredients are all natural. No harsh chemicals, such as Vitamin C or Retin-A to further irritate the recovering skin. The fact that it was advertised as a RESTORATIVE eye treatment gave me further confidence of its gentle formulation.

Now, is Kiehl’s advertising this product for use during facial peel?

Of course it’s silent about such specifics. This is just my personal application preference. For your information, Kiehl’s has advertised this product to be used during the night to diminish fine lines, puffiness and dark under-eye circles.

Being Honest…

While I’m in love with this product, I wouldn’t put too much hope that it can help reduce lines. My own personal experience with most over-the-counter (OTC) products is that they may help prevent further damage, but they wouldn’t be able to help erase the damage. This is because OTC beauty products are subject to state regulations, which means that most OTC products are only allowed to penetrate the first layer of your skin, which is the “dead layer”.  Removal of such layer wouldn’t help too much in removing wrinkles.

In a nutshell…why do I love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye?

  1. It has a lovely scent and helps me sleep better
  2. It’s natural and gentle (no parabens, fragrance, mineral oils or silicones)
  3. It’s not overly greasy, and doesn’t contribute to milia
  4. It is great for use when my skin needs to recover
