Ok, I admit that I wanted so badly to love Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask simply because it is a mask made in Taiwan. For those who have been following my Taiwan Travelogue, you would have known how much I love Taiwan. So, I guess there was user bias right from the beginning. But don’t worry, I try not to let this affect the review (the keyword is TRY…LOL).

Now, the thing is, I did end up loving this facial mask, albeit for only the first 24 hours. What happened after that? Let me share my love-hate story with you.
About Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask
Dr Morita is a very popular brand in Taiwan, specializing in face masks. You can find it in Watsons, Cosmeds and most drug stores in Taiwan. For some reasons, they are often given very prominent retail space – sometimes right at the doorstep. Maybe they really sell very well? So, you can’t miss it if you are in Taiwan! By the way, Dr. Morita face masks is also widely available in many countries including Singapore and Malaysia.
Today, my review is on Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask. This mask is for someone who wants to boost moisture level, slow down aging of skin and smoothen fine lines. That’s what I’ve gathered (and translated) from the Chinese-printed product label.

So, did it work as per her promise? Let’s first check out what’s so good about Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask that got me head over heel for it.
What’s Good about Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask?
1. Size fits Asian women
The size is considered small and hence fitted perfectly on my face. There was no overhanging edges or holes that were too big. It covered all the places that it was supposed to cover, although I did find the nose-bit a little too short.Â

2. Multiple Slits ensured a good fit!
Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask came with multiple slits. These were instrumental in customizing the fit over the unique curve of the face. As such, the mask stayed firmly in place throughout the 20-minute session and never once threatened to fall off. I could carry on with whatever I was doing without any distraction.

3. Thicker-than-usual Material
The sheet is black and is thicker-than-usual as compared to flimsy sheet masks from some brands. It runs almost zero risks of being accidentally torn apart. I’m also pleased to report that the thick material held enough essence such that the mask remained moist even at the end of the application.Â
4. Comfortable After-Feel
After removing Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask from my face, there was only a slight stickiness. An hour later, the stickiness was gone and the face felt like how it would with a layer of serum. It was a very comfortable experience, not having to deal with overly-sticky masks that are typically associated with moisturizing masks.

5. Super Hydrating
My face was significantly hydrated and plumped up as soon as I removed Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask. The fuller face made me feel like I’d just shaved 5 years off my age. That was the point when I fell in love with Dr Morita and thought I should go out and get a few more boxes. Check out the ingredients below!

6. Cured dry patches within a day
Not only was my face more youthful-looking, but the dry patches near my temples were also gone within 24 hours. “Ok. I’ve got to write a review on you and place you on my holy grail list“, I’d promised Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask.
Unfortunately, things took a turn that forced me to choose between youthful skin or one with pimples. Well, in a way, youthful skin tends to have breakout. So, was that how it was supposed to work?Â
What’s Bad about Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask?
1. Pimples & Clogged Pores
The next morning after application, I noticed an active pimple on my neck. It’s the kind which was slightly painful and contained pus. This was rather unusual as I hardly get pimples on my neck.
I told myself, “Hmmm, Ok. I can accept one pimple in exchange for looking 5 years younger.”
Alas, tiny bumps started to emerge over the next couple of days. My pores were clogged and they felt rough to the touch (like how white-heads feel like to the touch). Fortunately, the tiny bumps didn’t develop into full-blown pimples. They kind of ‘settle down’ after a while and my skin recovered within a week.
2. What a Waste of Essence!Â
The black mask was attached to a white backing. I was surprised to see that the white layer is made of absorbent material. So when I threw that backing away, I’d thrown away a good amount (50% maybe) of the precious essence.
I just thought, if excess liquid is to be thrown away, then wouldn’t it be more travel-friendly to pack half the liquid per sheet (15ml instead of 30ml) against a non-absorbent backing? And pass the savings to consumers? So instead of 10 masks, I can bring back 20 without adding unnecessary burden to my baggage allowance or pocket.
Ok, I guess I’m just daydreaming. =)
3. May not suit a larger face
Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask suits a small face well. That also meant it may not work well for those with a larger face, such as those of men.
Recommendation
If you have dehydrated skin or flaky dry patches and are looking for a hydrating solution, Dr Morita Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask should be able to work the magic and it does it FAST. It is definitely worth a try, provided you don’t have a history of being prone to breakouts and clogged pores. Although it didn’t work for me, I am very tempted to try it again, given its superb hydrating prowess (and maybe I am a little biased =)). When I do, I’ll update here if I see a different result. Rating: 3.5/5.

I tried out this mask and it felt amazing on my skin. It was smooth and supple, loved the feels until I started getting these pimple bumps underneath the skin and I knew it was breaking me out. Thankfully they are not aggressive pimples but I’m not liking the post effect. Such a shame though.
Exactly. What a shame! Could have been a really good hydrating mask. Thanks for sharing your feedback and reinforcing the findings/review.
