Decorte Loose Powder: Best I’ve tried in many years

Hey all, like to introduce a great makeup – Decorte Loose Powder. It’s the best loose powder I’ve used thus far and I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase it. In fact, I was tempted to buy another tub during a recent sale, even though my current one is only half-used.

Let me share more about Decorte Loose Powder, and 7 reasons for loving it.

About Decorte Loose Powder

Decorte is a premium beauty brand from Japan. I first discovered this brand thanks to a chance encounter on a train to Hakone. A friendly Japanese lady recommended Decorte Liposome Repair Serum which I loved.

Following that, I started exploring more of the brand’s offerings. And among the few I’ve tried, Decorte Loose Powder was one that stood out.

It is available in 9 shades, and the one I’m using is colour #06 (Nude Matt Beige).

Marketing claims: Too good to be true?

Decorte Loose Powder is marketed as one that “covers the skin in a veil of light”, and is able to achieve the following benefits:

  • Covers pores, uneven colors and dullness
  • Creates a natural finish
  • Moistens the skin
  • Illuminates the skin from within
  • Distributes powder evenly with its hyaluronate-infused puff

But does it really live up to these claims? After using Decorte Loose Powder for close to a year, here’s my honest take. I’ll start with the pros before moving on to the cons.

7 things I love about Decorte Loose Powder

1. Luxurious and pretty

First of all, the photos you see in this post were taken almost a year after I started using the powder. I’ve lost some earlier photos when changing a phone.

Even so, you can see that the container still looks good and pretty. Check out the floral-embossed lid – it makes me feel good whenever I reach for this powder.

2. Dispense powder effectively

Now, let’s talk about what matters more than aesthetics. I’m happy to share that Decorte Loose Powder is super effective in dispensing powder.

With each upside down flip of the container, the right amount of product would be deposited onto the sponge – not too much, not too little.

3. Soft fluffy sponge that’s comfy to skin

Sharing about the sponge also gets me excited. Because it’s really good!

The soft sponge picks up powder effectively (in the right amount) and doesn’t cause a mess. Application is easy, even in tricky areas like the edges of the eyes, upper lids, and hairline – something I used to struggle with when using other loose powders.

And it was only while writing this review that I discovered why the puff works so well. It’s infused with Hyaluronate which helps it distribute the powder more evenly. Such an innovative touch!

4. No powder streaks

Have you ever experienced powder streaks say after a few hours out? I’ve experienced that with some powders I’ve used.

Thankfully, I don’t get this issue with Decorte Loose Powder.

5. Set the face without dulling it

One key reason why I reach out for Decorte Loose Powder everyday (over other powders in my possession) is how well it sets my makeup without making my skin look flat.

Some loose powders I’ve tried over-mattified, but Decorte Loose Powder doesn’t. It covers excessive grease or shine, blurs pores but still retains a subtle radiance.

I was conservative and purchased a skin-colour #06, but may try a more translucent shade next time to see if it would enhance the glow even further.

6. Safe on pimple-prone skin

Decorte Loose Powder didn’t cause any breakouts on my pimple-prone skin.

7. Generous quantity

I didn’t realise how generous the quantity was until my mom complained about her newly-bought loose powder. There was only 10 grams of product in hers, but 20 grams in mine.

However, do take note that Decorte Loose Powder is also available in a smaller quantity (based on what I see from its official website).

What’s not great?

1. It’s not cheap

I could only find one “bad” thing to say about Decorte Loose Powder. At S$70, this Japan-made powder is luxuriously-priced.

While expensive, I noted that it’s reasonably priced as compared to other premium brands such as Lancome and Shu Uemura.

Recommendation: Should you buy Decorte Loose Powder

I don’t know about you, but I certainly would. The marketing claims turned out to be true. In fact, I am regretting not picking up another during a Shopee promo (when it was going for just S$40).

If you are on the hunt for a good loose powder and not sure were to start, you can head down to the Decorte counter to try it out for yourself.

Get their recommendation and see which shade works better for you. And see if you like it as much as I do. Rating: 5/5
